Leading Souls to Christ...Some Hints and Helps
Let us remember that soul-winning is the work of every born-again man or woman. We are saved to save others. There are no exceptions or exemptions. God has chosen to save men through men. There is no greater work than winning men and women, boys and girls to Christ.

See how great this work is from the sinner’s point of view: “Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way, shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins” (James 5:20).

See how great this work is from the servant’s point of view: “He that winneth souls is wise” (Prov. 11:30). “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever” (Dan. 12:3).

Three Requirements
There are three requirements if we are to succeed in leading a soul to Christ:

A fully yielded, cleansed, and Spirit-filled life.
“The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and or earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the Master’s use, and prepared unto every good work” (2 Tim. 2:19-21). See also Romans 6:13; Psalm 51:2, 7, 10, 13; Isaiah 52:11; Ephesians 5:18; Acts 1:8.

A complete dependence on the Holy Spirit.
“Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts” (Zech. 4:6). See also Acts 4:8, 31, 33. The Holy Spirit alone can convict of sin (John 16:8) and turn us from sin.

A working knowledge of the Word of God
Always point a soul to the Word of God, and show what God says. To do this we must know what God says, and where to find the reference. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

How to Lead a Soul to Christ
Show from the Word of God the need of Salvation
By nature we are all sinners - nothing more, nothing less (Ps. 14:2-3; Is. 52:6; Rom. 3:10, 12, 23). Our sins brought death and separation from God (Rom. 5:12; 6:23; Eph. 2:1). We are condemned already and guilty before God (John 3:18; Rom. 3:19). This is why we need a Saviour.

Show from the Word of God that we cannot save ourselves
(Rom. 3:20; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 3:5- Jonah 2:9)

Show from the Word of God that only Jesus can and does save.
He died on the cross to put away sin (Is. 53:6; John 1:29; 1 Pet. 2:24). He lives to save to the uttermost all who come to Him (Heb. 7:25). He is able and willing to forgive and cleanse (Mark 2:10; Acts 13:38-39; 1 John 1:7-9)

Show from the Word of God that they must repent.
The purpose of Christ’s coming (Matt. 9:13; Mark 2:17). “God...commandeth all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:3). Christ is exalted to give repentance (Acts 5:31). We shall perish if we repent not (Luke 13:3, 5). Repentance is a change of mind, and a change of Master. Repentance is not only sorrowing for, but ceasing from sin. It is a change of mind about God, sin, self, and salvation.

Show from the Word of God that we are saved by believing and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ (see John 1:12; 3:36; 5:24; Acts 16:31).
We are sure that we are saved by believing His Word. God says it; I believe it; that settles it. The assurance of salvation does not depend on feelings, but on what God says. Then we feel satisfied because God says it.

Show from the Word of God that open confession should follow believing on the Lord Jesus Christ (see Matt. 10:32-33; Rom. 10:9-10).

Show from the Word of God that the same Saviour who saves can sanctify (1 Thess. 5:23-24), satisfy (John 14:14), and keep (Ps. 121; Jude 1:24).
