Sunshine & Shadows
Sometimes our lives are bright and gay
And sunshine smiles upon our way;
Our hearts are filled with happiness
By all the joy our lives possess.
Some days are quiet and serene,
With time to meditate and dream.
Some days are pleasure-filled and fun
With sweet content as day is done.
The suddenly we find it gone;
There is no rosy-tinted dawn.
How quickly blue skies turn to gray,
Now shadows lurk across our way.
Things are not as we hoped or planned --
The trials are hard to understand.
Then Jesus whispers, "Do not fear.
Reach out your hand; you'll find Me here.
I have a purpose for each trial,
But I'll be with you all the while.
This, too, will pass. You'll see the sun
When clouds their perfect work have done."
Our weak hand placed in His so strong
We follow. He'll not lead us wrong.
We know not why these storms must be,
But Jesus says, "Child, trust in Me."
And then one glad and glorious day,
We wake to skies no longer gray.
The dawn brings hope! The storms depart,
As He speaks peace unto our hearts.
He guided us through darkest night,
Through paths unknown to morning light,
And we rejoice that we can say,
"My Saviour led me all the way."

Faithful is He Who Promised
Are you passing through a testing?
Is your pillow wet with tears?
Do you wonder what the reason,
Why it seems God never hears;

Why it is you have no answer
To your oft-repeated plea;
Why the heaven still is laden
As you wait on bended knee?

Do you wonder as you suffer
Whether God does understand,
And, if so, why He "ignores" you,
Fails to hold you in His hand?

Just till heaven keep on trusting,
Through the sunshine and the rain,
Through the tears and through the heartaches,
Through the smiles and through the pain--

Knowing that our Father watches,
Knowing daily the strength He'll give;
Victory for each passing hour
Of this life -- so let us live!

He Maketh No Mistake
My Father's way may twist and turn,
My heart may throb and ache:
But in my soul I'm glad to know
He maketh no mistake.

My cherished plans may go astray
My hopes may fade away;
But still I'll trust my Lord to lead,
For He doth know the way.

Though night be dark and it may seem
That day will never break,
I'll pin my faith, my all on Him,
And leave it all to Him.

There's so much now I cannot see,
My eyesight's far to dim;
But come what may, I'll simply trust
And leave it all to Him.

God's Rainbow
Rainbows appear after mighty storms
When things look their very worst.
Just when the skies are darkest gray,
Look for the rainbow first.

The rainbow is a sign of God's promise,
That He will guide us
Through all our troubles,
No matter what their form.

When you feel battered by life's storms,
And you are filled with doubt and dismay;
Just remember God's rainbow is coming--
It's only a prayer away.
